Dr. Turel is Professor Information Systems (IS) Management and the IS group co-lead at the University of Melbourne. He is also a Scholar in Residence at the Decision Neuroscience Program, University of Southern California. His research interests include a broad range of behavioral, managerial and bio-physiological issues related to the effects of information technologies on employee behaviors and society. He has published over 200 journal papers in leading business and neuro-psychology journals. They include such IS journals as MIS Quarterly, Journal of MIS, MIT Sloan Management Review, Journal of AIS, European Journal of Information Systems, and Information Systems Journal. Example neuro-psychology outlets include Journal of Psychiatric Research, Addiction Biology, Cognitive, Affective & Behavioral Neuroscience, Social Neuroscience, and Addictive Behaviors. He has been recognized in the top 2% of researchers worldwide in a study conducted by Stanford University. His research has been featured in numerous media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Daily Mail, The LA Times, Times Higher Education, The Rolling Stone, and PBS. He is a Senior Editor for MIS Quarterly (since 2023; recipient of the Outstanding Associate Editor in 2019) and an Associate Editor for Scientific Reports (the Open Access journal of Nature, since 2019).
